Whether you’re trying to get out of debt or just making sure that you can maintain your current standard of living, money saving solutions should definitely be at the top of your agenda. The key to keeping more of your hard earned money in your bank account is finding less costly ways to have what you have always had, instead of cutting comforts out of your life altogether. From searching for cheaper electricity prices to becoming your own gourmet chef, here are a few tips to get you started on your path to financial freedom.

Money Saving Tip 1 – Cook all your meals at home

Eating out is a common source of over spending and indulgence. Whether it’s just a bagel in the morning here, or a sandwich for lunch there, this habit is probably wreaking havoc on your food budget. To save money, invest in some nice plastic ware that you can use to carry your own food to work and school. If you’re not eating out but still can’t figure out why your money saving is failing, then the culprit could be your snacking habits. Buying coffee every day is an expensive yet addictive food habit to that needs to be broken.

Money Saving Tip 2 – Take advantage of supermarket sales

One of the best money saving tips when shopping is to stock up on items when they go on sale, but only do this if you need the items. If you compare buying necessities like toothpaste, bath tissue, or canned goods only when you need them to buying them when they’re on sale, you could probably be saving hundreds of pounds a year. It may not seem like a big deal, but those discounts can add up over time, so clear some space in the pantry for your next big sale buy and your money saving strategy will start to bear fruit.

Money Saving Tip 3 – Cycle to work or school

An effectibve money saving solution is to use your bike instead of the car as your primary mode of transportationas it has a twofold advantage. First, it helps you save on petrol and vehicle maintenance. And more importantly, it is a convenient way to get into shape. Regular cardiovascular exercise such as riding a bike every day can significantly improve your health and help you shed or keep off excess weight. In addition, you won’t need to carve out time in your busy schedule to exercise, and you’ll even see savings in your health care; a fit physique is an excellent way to keep the doctor away.

Money Saving Tip 4 – Become energy conscious

One of the biggest sources of strain in your money saving budget could be your energy bills. The big six seem to have all energy consumers in their back pockets with the continually rising cost of electricity and gas. Give them a run for your money by searching for the best gas and electricity prices in your area online and considering a switch. In addition to finding a cheaper energy supplier don’t forget to take control of your electricity and gas consumption by remembering to turn out the lights and seal all the draughty places in your home.

Money Saving Tip 5 – Find cheaper ways to be entertained

Attempting to cut all of the fun out of your budget is a sure way to drive yourself insane. You can still save money and be entertained as long as you look for less expensive ways to do it. For example, if you enjoy watching movies, consider a membership for a site that allows unlimited rentals, and if you’re a music aficionado, find a free streaming service instead of paying for downloads.

If you have any simple and effective ways of money saving at home that will help someone get out of debt or just maintain their standard of lving then please leave your money saving tips below.

What Are The Benefits Of Obtaining Numerous Life Insurance Quotes?

Buying a life insurance policy is no different from purchasing any other type of product or service. To acquire the best bargain you must shop around. You need to make certain that you find the best life insurance quotes at the lowest premium. The only way to do this is by obtaining life insurance quotes from several different companies. You will need to take note of the benefits each company has to offer. This process will allow you to purchase a solid policy for a reasonable rate.

Insurance brokers are generally not to keen on discussing in depth their selection of insurance providers as it would mean them having to explain why they selected certain insurance providers and not others. It normally comes down to who quotes insurance rates easily for customers and who pays the most commission . The average number of insurance companies for one insurance broker is around six insurance companies. Insurance brokers work on commission. They receive money if you buy the policy from them. Therefore, they are only going to quote you prices form insurance companies they have agreements with and are on their panel of insurers. By calling multiple agents for life insurance quotes you are reaching a broader range of underwriters. As a result, you increase your chances of locating lower premiums for the same amount of coverage. Alternatively only deal with brokers and online providers that deal with the ‘whole of market’. This means they deal with every service provider in the market place and will find you life insurance quotes from every insurance provider.

Top tips for finding the best life insurance quotes?

Before you begin acquiring quotes gather a notebook and pencil. Keep these things with you. Each time you are given life insurance quoptes you should write it down, along with the company name, phone number, and notes of general coverage. This way you may go back and compare.

Do your homework. Know the differences between, term life insurance, and whole life insurance. Generally term life insurance is less expensive than a whole life policy. However, whole life does not expire as long as your premiums are paid on time each month. Decide which of these meet your short or long term requirements. This way when the agent begins quoting premiums rates you will understand what he or she is talking about it. Also, research different providers asking for the same amount of insurance cover and the same term of the intended insurance policy. You may do this online.

With access to the internet being so readily available I would certainly suggest that you contact some insurance providers and ask them to provide you with quotes for life insurance. Make sure that they offer providers from the whole of the market place.

Find an insurance advisor who has access to the whole of the market place and ask him or her to provide you with the best life insurance qupotes for your needs.

You should always receive a ‘statement or Reason why letter’ from who ever arranges your new life insurance policy

Finding the best life insurance quotes will require time and effort. However, it is worth the investment. Once you have made your decision, you will feel secure, knowing that you have obtained the best life insurance quotes available to decide on which insurance provider to use.

In today’s economy, we can’t afford to replace expensive items. Insurance is more important than ever. We are all facing tough economic times with uncertainty about inflation, job security and a looming recession adding to a long list of things to be concerned about. Whilst it’s certainly a great time to look at our monthly spending and attempt to trim it where possible to live within a sustainable budget certain areas of our financial lives need careful consideration before swinging the financial axe.

One such area is that of insurance. Technically insurance is a way in which we can manage the risk in our lives. In exchange for the payment of a premium you are protecting yourself in the event of a significant loss or incurring costs in the future. Significant is the key word here as it’s really only worth insuring against losses that will have an impact on your life.

Reputable Insurance Brokers Help Protect Your Belongings

When it comes to belongings, where to draw this line is a matter for personal consideration, but as a rule of thumb if any of your possessions are indispensable to you and you would not be able to replace them yourself if damaged, lost or stolen insurance is appropriate. We have all lived through a decade of rampant consumerism, often facilitated with the use of credit and have become accustomed to the lifestyle and level of luxury we have acquired for ourselves. With today’s economy you may not be able to buy some of those items again so insurance in this instance works as a guarantee that you can continue to live in the manner you are accustomed to.

Insurance Brokers Can Help You Find Any Kind Of Insurance Policy

There are other larger risks to which we are occasionally exposed in our lives. Travel insurance for example is a sensible option for anyone going overseas, especially if you aim to take part in any dangerous activities. In such situations having proper insurance for medical contingencies is absolutely essential to protect yourself against incurring some of the huge costs that can occur when obtaining treatment abroad.

If you run any kind of business then a whole other raft of eventualities becomes necessary to insure against. Insurance Brokers are best placed to find a policy that is bespoke to your business. You will need liability insurance covering your employee’s wellbeing in the event of injuries, buildings and contents insurance for your premises and public liability insurance. It’s even possible to insure against business interruption and loss of income. For example if you are operating a buy to let rental business it’s possible to obtain landlords insurance cover that will guarantee rent in the instance of a tenant defaulting.

Additionally one should also consider what impact an injury, unemployment or even disability would have on our own lives. Without appropriate insurance for such eventuality we are left at the mercy of the government and its constantly shifting maze of provision. Income protection insurance is the one to look for to provide a safety net in the event of an injury and will pay you a proportion of your income on an on-going basis. Life insurance is important if you have a family or dependants as this will leave them with a lump sum in the event of your death and make sure they can continue to live their lives without. Always use the services of reputable Insurance brokers like Alan Boswell insurance brokers to ensure you get the best value for you money and a high level of service. Your thoughts and experiences of using Insurance Brokers are welcome below

There are many little tricks of the trade that can make your home appear even more desirable, no matter what the state of the housing market. Recession or no recession it is shrewd business to maximize the impact that your home on buyers and encourage the best price from the sale of your home.

Increase the value of your home

If you are attempting to increase the value of your home when selling it you should start by de-cluttering it inside and outside. This will start to make your home look more desirable to potential buyer and it will help them to visualize themselves living there. Repair or replace anything that is broken that might put the buyers off buying your home or may make them offer you a ridiculous price for your home. A lick of paint on the inside and the outside of your home is a sure winner as it freshens up the home and make it look like you have cared for your home.

Always remember that anyone who comes to visit your property with the intention of buying will start looking at your property from the street. So make sure that your home has ‘kerb appeal’ like a well looked after front garden. Don’t forget to tidy up the back garden and keep the grass cut and the flower beds weeded. These are some of the basic ways to increase the value of your home.

TV Programmes Promote Ways To Increase The Value Of Your Home

Countless TV programmes educate us on all of the changes you can make to increase the value of your home and the ‘sell-ability’ of your property. This might be baking, brewing coffee or creating the illusion of more light but the one think that we hear time and time again is how much a home’s flooring can improve the look and feel of the entire house. The popular choice to improve the feel of a home is to have either laminate or solid wood flooring. Laminate floors will increase the value of your home when compared to wall-to-wall carpeting and although slightly more expensive, solid wood flooring will increase the value of your home even more.

As mentioned earlier it is essential to consider when selling your home, that buyers really does want a clean and tidy house. Not just a tidied-up house, but a house with clean baseboards, windows, siding, refrigerator and cabinet and what better impression to make, than having clean floors. Carpets can hold smells and stains and are often the first thing that people notice when they enter a house, which is why it is a well-known fact, that laminate or solid wood flooring makes a home look so much more attractive and again it helps to increase the value of your home.

Laminate Flooring Will Increase The Value Of Your Home

Laminate flooring has drastically moved on in recent years, as graphics have become more realistic. You no longer get that plastic flooring effect, instead, they give the impression of sleek wood floors that could belong in any grand, rural, country home. Laminate flooring now can help to increase the value of your home.

It has not only moved on in terms of quality but it is also nowhere near as expensive as it used to be. You can also nearly always find a recommended company running a laminate flooring sale where you can pick up some good quality deals. Solid wood flooring is slightly more expensive than laminate but it doesn’t need to be extortionate. Again you can usually find a solid wood flooring sale that will increase the value of your home without breaking the bank.

The fact that both these types of flooring are durable and last for so many years, make them both a great investment that will increase the value of your home and your buyers will be completely aware of this longevity too.

So Consider Increase The Value Of Your Home With Laminate Flooring

If you are considering new flooring to increase the value of your home, then you may want to buy Quickstep flooring. This company has been trading for over 10 years establishing it as the UK’s leading flooring suppliers. It is a recommended flooring supplier that is also affordable, so it is definitely worth considering when renovating your home.

It is however possible to have the best of both world, realising great prices and having your purchases in your hands the same day by taking advantage of many large retailers shop online and collect in-store policies. This allows you to make your christmas shopping purchases at website prices and pick your christmas shopping gifts up in store.

If this is not an option then do some price research and take a print out with you. Armed with this you are in a better position to haggle for better terms, say increased warranties or free extras. It’s also a great way to focus your christmas shopping and help you get it done far quicker than you would imagine possible and not waste cash on presents you don’t really need.

Selecting A Home Broadband Package There are a lot of choices out there when it comes to home broadband and finding the right product at a great price that saves you money. Whether you’re looking for a basic broadband only deal, a phone bundle or full-on broadband and TV packages, you can be faced with a host of prices, providers and complex options. So where do you start? 1. Home Broadband Options Before you get into the meat of the decision, you need to face the reality of your situation. Check out exactly what is actually available to your home so you can immediately narrow down your search. Also, it means you won’t get tempted, and then bitterly disappointed, by a product you can’t even have! Once done, you should have a list of home broadband providers and packages that you can begin to whittle down to a manageable list. At this point you may want to rule out certain home broadband providers too – perhaps you’ve had a bad experience, or friends have told you horror stores.
There are a lot of choices out there when it comes to home broadband and finding the right product at a great price that saves you money. Whether you’re looking for a basic broadband only deal, a phone bundle or full-on broadband and TV packages, you can be faced with a host of prices, providers and complex options. So where do you start?

1. Home Broadband Options

How to selecting a home broadband package

Before you get into the meat of the decision, you need to face the reality of your situation.

Before doing this though, try to find some recent home broadband reviews – you may find they have cleaned up their act by improving their network, customer service or hardware.

2. Home Broadband Speed And Download Limits

Next, think closely about what you’ll be using the internet for. This should in turn help you decide what kind of monthly download limit you may need, as well as the kind of speed you want to pay for.

If you’re lucky enough to have choices of home broadband speeds, you’ll probably find faster equals more expensive. However, you may not need that speed. If you’re just using the internet to surf the net, check your mail and to hit social networking sites, a pretty slow connection should see you right. However if you’re wanting to download a lot of large files, stream a lot of video, play online games or connect multiple machines at once, you may want to upgrade to a faster package.

The same goes for usage. Email, social networking and the internet won’t use too much of your monthly allowance, but streaming, gaming and downloading will soon eat up the data limit of a low-end tariff (be especially careful of ‘unlimited’ deals that may be far from it).

3. Home Broadband Deals, Bundles and Extras

There are some really great home broadband bundles out there, which can include telephone, mobile and television services too. What’s more, buying theses home broadband services in a bundle can save you both money and hassle: taking several services from a single supplier shows loyaly, which usually means money off – plus you’ll have everything condensed into one bill and only one company to call with technical or other customer enquiries.

At this point you should have a fairly short list of home broadband providers, so keep an eye out for any of the options that may have special offers or particularly good extras. Freebies can include anything from free months off your contract to high street vouchers, free connections or a superior Wi-Fi router. As long as you spend a bit of time checking out what’s available and doing your research, things should fall into place without too much difficulty.

Often times you will hear that the best way to select any managed investments is to look at the investment managers’ performance track record. Investment experts would disagree. In fact, they say that it may be the worst way to judge the effectiveness of a manager because it doesn’t consider many other factors that can influence their performance in the future. Experts recommend that investors incorporate several other factors when evaluating their managed investments.

Investment Decision Procedures

All fund managers use a self-styled process for identifying and selecting securities for their managed investments portfolio. This can be a measure of their capacity to produce consistent results.

Here’s what to look for when evaluating the process of your managed investments:

It is important to see if they have an established, articulated process by which they make investment choices.

You need to know that they use state-of-the-art technology in compiling their research and monitoring markets.

Most managers utilize a team of investment pros. Look to see if the team has much turnover in its members and what criteria is used to select members of the team.

A sound process employs fundamental risk management principals in order to produce reliable results. Check to see if they abide by such principals in their managed investments philosophy.

This should help you narrow the field of fund managers who have the capacity to outperform the others.

Diversify With Multiple Fund Managers

After narrowing your field, consider choosing several the managers in order to achieve optimum diversification in your overall portfolio. In doing so, you will be blending investment styles, objectives and risk levels which can provide more stability in your overall portfolio. It would be important to combine conservative styles with more aggressive styles so your managed investments portfolio is not exposed to any one level of risk.

Keep An Eye On Your Fund Managers And Your Managed Investments

Few people have the time, inclination or the capacity to track fund managers on a daily basis, and there is probably little reason to do so. Their overall performance should be measure based on more than daily price changes. The more important factors to gauge are any changes in their process, team members, investment objectives or philosophy that will influence future performance. Fortunately there are some independent ratings firms that track these factors for you. For a fee, you can follow the research and monitoring provided by companies such as Standard and Poor’s and Morningstar. They will alert you to any changes in their ratings of the funds and provide you with the analysis that goes into their rating changes.

Financial professionals can be of some assistance in evaluating and monitoring fund managers and their managed investments. However, some caution should be exercised in selecting a financial adviser with whom to work. Most advisers are compensated on the sale of products offered through their companies so their motivations may be more aligned with their pocketbook versus what may be in your best interest. While this is not true of all commission-based advisers, it may be worthwhile to seek the guidance of a fee-based adviser who is compensated directly by you for the planning advice they give you.

Managed Investments Requires You To Do Your Homework First

Your best bet is to do your homework and clearly establish your goals and priorities. Utilize the resources that are available to you to study up on fund managers and their offerings. Nobody knows you better than you, and certainly, nobody will be more diligent about making the right financial decisions for you. So take care and precautions before selecting your next investment manager to look after your managed investments.

Here are 5 tips that could allow you to help the environment – and save money.
Think about investing in rechargeable batteries. Replacing disposable batteries in remote controls and other electronic items can quickly become expensive – not to mention the fact that they contain harmful chemicals that can be damaging to the environment and can’t be naturally broken down. Though buying rechargeable batteries is more expensive, they can be re-used again and again, so you should certainly get value for your money.

Before eating out or going shopping, look for any voucher codes that may be available for discounts and money-off deals in your local shops and restaurants. Some websites even offer vouchers that can entitle you to discounts on sustainable, environmentally friendly products and clothing – so you could grab yourself a bargain and benefit the planet too.

If you’re a driver, you could save money on fuel – and do your bit to reduce your ‘carbon footprint’ – by taking more notice of the ‘fuel consumption meter’ fitted in most modern cars. By showing your MPG (Miles per Gallon) over multiple trips and the total fuel consumed (amongst other readings), it could help you keep an eye on the way you’re driving and encourage more economical habits on the road.

Consider fitting a ‘low-flow’ shower head, which could help reduce your water bills and the amount of water wasted. There are two available options: an ‘aerating’ version, which reduces the amount of water used by mixing it with oxygen to create a soft, ‘bubbly’ shower; or a ‘non-aerating’ model, which restricts the flow of water by forcing it out of smaller holes, giving it a more massaging spray.

Sell Scrap Gold

The gold rush has started with scrap gold buyers wanting to get their hands on your damaged, broken or unwanted jewellery. It does not matter what state your scrap gold is in as they will melt it down into gold ingots to resell. These firms offer to buy your scrap gold for cash in a quick and seamless transaction.

Unfortunately most of us find ourselves at an unfair disadvantage when we sell our scrap gold jewellery. We don’t know what the real value of scrap gold is or how much we should expect for our jewellery. The adverts on television inform potential customers that the price of gold has risen sharply. The advertisers are willing to buy any scrap gold above 9 carats irrespective of its condition.
Advertisers say they offer a fair price for scrap gold and explain how easy it is to turn your jewellery into cash for gold. Most scrap gold dealers offer to double their original offer if you find a better offer from elsewhere. This is done to convince you that their offer is the best offer in town.

The Value Of Scrap Gold Has Gone Up

The value of gold has risen five fold during the last ten years. As a result of this price rise there has been an increase in the number of firms offering to buy scrap gold jewellery. They all say they offer a fair price for your scrap gold. All you need to do is contact them and they will send you an envelope for you to send your broken, damaged or unwanted gold jewellery to them. Once they have received your jewels they will generally send you a cheque for around 20% of the market value by return post.

If you’re not satisfied with their offer you can always refuse their offer and ask them to return your jewellery. Today the price of gold is around £17 to £20 per gram. It seems that some firms that advertise on the television, the internet and radio are offering clients around £1.50 to £4 per gram. This is in sharp contrast to the more reputable high street jewellers that are offering their customers around £6.50 to £8.95 per gram for scrap gold. The price of scrap gold will fluctuate from day to day so the price offered to you can of course change without notice.

Beware When You Sell Scrap Gold

‘Caveat Emptor’ This means “Let the Buyer Beware.” You should always beware when things sound too good and someone is willing to pay you money quickly. Scrap gold dealers are not breaking the law as they are only making you an offer and it’s up to you to accept or refuse their offer. There is absolutely nothing illegal in what these firms are doing.

Scrap gold dealers believe they are offering a service that allows people to sell their jewellery confidentially as they may be in financial difficulties and need to pay bills or they maybe trying to get out of debt. Unfortunately, these adverts attract people that are struggling with debts and are desperate to turn anything they have into quick cash.

10 Money Saving Tips for selling your scrap gold

If you must sell scrap gold for cash then always weigh your gold first so you know how much you have.

Always check the Hallmarks on your jewellery so you know it is genuine.

If you are selling jewellery always remove the gem stones as you may be able to sell them separately elsewhere. (Diamonds, rubies, sapphires, tanzanite, etc)

With gold at an all time high it’s a sellers market so don’t sell scrap gold if you believe the offer is too low.

Ask the gold buyers for their scrap gold price per gram.

Shop around for the best offer.

Talk to a local reputable high street jeweller.

If you do send your gold to any company then always send it recorded delivery.

Ask a Pawn broker what they would offer you per gram.

If you are asked to a jewellery party and invited to take your unwanted scrap gold to sell, then don’t be fooled into thinking they will offer you any more than the TV, radio and internet advertisers. They too will offer you around 20% of the market price.

Talk to a local reputable high street jeweller about how much they can offer you for your scrap gold before taking the advice from the television, radio or internet advert.

Freecycle is about finding people who have items they want to give away to people who can use the items for free. The Freecycle goal is to keep usable items out of landfills. One of the key elements of freecycle is that it encourages us to get rid of junk that we no longer need and to promote community involvement in the process. One person’s trash is another person’s treasure.

Six Live Ducks, Four Chickens All From Freecycle

www.Freecycle.org

A friend of mine regularly uses a www. freecycle .org and recently he was given six live ducks, four hens, paving stones and a shed which he had to dismantle and remove. It’s all free to a good home with freecycle and you can save hundreds of pounds.

Everything posted on freecycle must be free, legal and appropriate for all ages. All you need to do is simply post an email to your group saying what you are offering, be it a chair, table, computer, fax machine or chickens. After that it is up to the giver to choose who should receive the gift from all the email responses. The lucky person then sets up a time for collection. Everything given away on freecycle is free.

Free-cycling is a bargain hunters dream it means they can acquire items for free without paying any cash. In other words they get to save their money and if you are frugal and thrifty then this will appeal to your very core. Its like free cash, it’s not even cheap money, it’s free. What a bargain?

Search Freecycle First

If you are looking to acquire something then you need to post a Wanted Message and you may well find a group of members that have what you are looking for. You need to alert the group that you wish to receive a certain gift/item and then wait for a response to see if you have been lucky. If you have then the giver will contact you and arrange collection.

Search the internet and you will find many other freecycle websites – Manchester freecycle, freecycle .org, Gumtree and many more – in your local area. They all stipulate that everything you advertise must be free to the buyer – whether it’s an old sofa, dining table, unwanted CD’s or even a few hours free labour in someone’s garden. If you find something you are interested in simply reply by email and the deal is done.

Before I forget my friend who introduced the concept of freecycle to me drives a brand new Mercedes C220, CDI and he and his wife shop at Aldi, Lidl and ASDA! He sold the shed he was given on e-Bay and got £63 – cheeky!
