Where Did Freecycle Come from?
Bargain hunters discovered Freecycle.org which originated in the United States and in September 2009 it was launched in the United Kingdom. The freecycle network today has over 4,858 different groups with in excess of 6,789,000 members around the world. At its roots is the philosophy that it is a non-profit making movement of people who are giving and receiving items for free in their own towns and cities.
Freecycle is about finding people who have items they want to give away to people who can use the items for free. The Freecycle goal is to keep usable items out of landfills. One of the key elements of freecycle is that it encourages us to get rid of junk that we no longer need and to promote community involvement in the process. One person’s trash is another person’s treasure.
Six Live Ducks, Four Chickens All From Freecycle
A friend of mine regularly uses a www. freecycle .org and recently he was given six live ducks, four hens, paving stones and a shed which he had to dismantle and remove. It’s all free to a good home with freecycle and you can save hundreds of pounds.
Everything posted on freecycle must be free, legal and appropriate for all ages. All you need to do is simply post an email to your group saying what you are offering, be it a chair, table, computer, fax machine or chickens. After that it is up to the giver to choose who should receive the gift from all the email responses. The lucky person then sets up a time for collection. Everything given away on freecycle is free.
Free-cycling is a bargain hunters dream it means they can acquire items for free without paying any cash. In other words they get to save their money and if you are frugal and thrifty then this will appeal to your very core. Its like free cash, it’s not even cheap money, it’s free. What a bargain?
Search Freecycle First
If you are looking to acquire something then you need to post a Wanted Message and you may well find a group of members that have what you are looking for. You need to alert the group that you wish to receive a certain gift/item and then wait for a response to see if you have been lucky. If you have then the giver will contact you and arrange collection.
Search the internet and you will find many other freecycle websites – Manchester freecycle, freecycle .org, Gumtree and many more – in your local area. They all stipulate that everything you advertise must be free to the buyer – whether it’s an old sofa, dining table, unwanted CD’s or even a few hours free labour in someone’s garden. If you find something you are interested in simply reply by email and the deal is done.
Before I forget my friend who introduced the concept of freecycle to me drives a brand new Mercedes C220, CDI and he and his wife shop at Aldi, Lidl and ASDA! He sold the shed he was given on e-Bay and got £63 – cheeky!

I’m a freecycle fan! I mostly give away stuff on there, but have used it once or twice to find something.

I’d heard about freecycle quite a few months ago and did get a couple of great items for free and put them to great use. I found a quite good alternative, dont dump that -> http://www.dontdumpthat.com/ which I found offered more items than my local freecycle group which was quite limited.

I love using Freecycle as not only does it help to reduce the amount of stuff we throw away by enabling someone else who can make use of it to do so, but it also helps to foster a sort of community spirit to some degree too. Something which has sadly become lost in many communities in recent years.
I’ve been using freecycle for a while now. Peviously I threw out things that were still in good condition but I was not using them any longer. Now they go to a good home instead of the local tip.
The Freecycle concept is great but isn’t all that easy depending on how your local group is run. http://www.ReuseMoose.com is a global website where you can find free items locally as they become available! Start recycling on ReuseMoose now in your area and earn recycling fame!
I found this blog on google, because I was looking for a review of Avatar. I think I really should go and watch it in 3D. I will tell you how I think about it later.
Free cycle is a great concept. I have just found this so can’t possibly comment all that much but I will in a week or two when I have had good old nosy around the site, sounds great though.
A statement in Forbes magazine discovered that Apple will produce enough income from content revenue equal to approximately 10% of its apple ipad hardware revenue through the end of the year and about 30% in 2011.

I`m also blogging about gift vouchers and i found the information provided by you very interesting.
Freecycle is a great resource but sometimes it can be hard for new Freecycle members to adjust to all the Freecycle rules and the flood of email from the mailings lists. I’ve built a new free site that makes it quicker and easier for people to use their existing Freecycle groups at http://trashnothing.com
I’ve also created a map-based directory of all the freecycling groups in the world at http://finder.trashnothing.com It makes it really easy for people to find their local groups.
Helpful information. Lucky me I discovered your web site accidentally, and I’m surprised why this accident did not took place earlier! I bookmarked it.
